DESCRIPTION OF STAINLESS STEEL ANGLE BAR AISI 201
Type 201 stainless steel is an austenitic chromium-nickel-manganese stainless steel designed to save nickel. Type 201 is a low-cost alternative to traditional Cr-Ni stainless steels, such as 301 and 304. Nickel was replaced by the addition of manganese and nitrogen. It cannot be hardened by heat treatment, but can be cold worked to high tensile strength. Type 201 is basically non-magnetic in the annealed state and will become magnetic after cold working. In many applications, type 201 can replace type 301.

Model 201 has an annealing temperature between 1850-2000 ° F. In order to keep carbides in solution and prevent sensitization, rapid cooling must be performed in the range of carbide precipitation (1500-800 o F). Type 201 cannot be hardened by heat treatment; it can be hardened only by cold working.
