DESCRIPTION OF 316 STAINLESS STEEL PIPE
The following steel pipe data charts can be used to find pipe size, diameter, wall thickness, working pressure, etc. The chart is based on ASME / ANSI B 36.10 welded seamless steel pipes and ASME / ANSI B36.19 stainless steel pipes.
Regardless of the schedule number, pipes of a particular size have the same outer diameter (without manufacturing tolerances). As the number of schedules increases, the wall thickness increases and the actual number of holes decreases. E.g:
The 4-inch (100 mm) Schedule 40 pipe has an outer diameter of 4.500 inches (114.30 mm), a wall thickness of 0.237 inches (6.02 mm), and a bore diameter of 4.026 inches (102.26 mm)
The 4-inch (100 mm) Schedule 80 tube has an outer diameter of 4.500 inches (114.30 mm), a wall thickness of 0.337 inches (8.56 mm), and an orifice of 3.826 inches (97.18 mm)

ASME B36.10 describes the standard dimensions of high pressure seamless welded steel pipes for high or low temperatures. Standard sizes for welded and seamless forged stainless steel pipes are described in ASME B36.19. The suffix “S” in the schedule number is used to distinguish between B36.19 pipeline and B36.10 pipeline. ASME B36.10 includes other pipe thicknesses and is also commercially available in stainless steel.
